Which is the cheapest health insurer in Switzerland?

The answer

There is no single one: 9 different insurers are the cheapest in at least one of Switzerland’s 42 premium regions. The country’s lowest adult premium is CHF 335.10 a month, in Baar.

Why

An insurer can be unbeatable in one canton and twelfth in the next, because each sets its rates region by region. Answering “it is X” without saying where would be wrong for most insured people.

Between the cheapest region (CHF 335.10, Baar) and the dearest (CHF 604.30, Aire-la-Ville) there is CHF 3'230.40 a year — for exactly the same cover defined by law.
