When can I change health insurer?
The answer
Once a year for basic insurance: your termination must have arrived at your insurer by 30 November at the latest, for a switch on 1 January.
Why
The word that matters is ARRIVED, not posted. A letter sent on 29 November by B-mail can arrive on 2 December and cost you a full year at the rate you wanted to leave. Registered mail is the only proof that will count.
There is a second, less known case: on the minimum deductible and standard model you may also terminate for 30 June, with three months’ notice. Supplementary policies follow their own deadlines — often three months before year end, sometimes more.
