Can I remove accident cover from my health insurance?
The answer
Yes, if your employer already insures you against accidents — which applies from eight hours of work a week with the same employer. The saving is about CHF 358.50 a year.
Why
You request the suspension from your insurer, with a certificate from your employer. It is not automatic: many employees pay for accident cover twice without knowing.
Watch the other direction: if you lose your job, drop below eight hours, or go self-employed, the cover must be reinstated. An accident in the gap is covered by nobody.
