What happens to my insurance if I move to another canton?

The answer

Your premium changes, because it depends on the region and not on the municipality: Switzerland has 42 premium regions for 2'114 municipalities. A move opens a right to cancel with effect from the end of the preceding month.

Why

The gap is real: the lowest adult premium runs from CHF 335.10 in Baar to CHF 604.30 in Aire-la-Ville. Two neighbouring municipalities can fall into different regions.

The premium subsidy, however, is cantonal and does not follow you: you must apply again in the new canton, under its own scales and deadlines. It is the costliest thing forgotten in a move.

Your own figure
