How much does health insurance cost for a child?
The answer
Switzerland’s lowest child premium is CHF 20.50 a month. A child pays roughly a fifth of what an adult pays in the same region.
Why
Children have their own deductible scale: 0 to 600 francs, where an adult runs from 300 to 2 500. The zero deductible exists only for them, and it is often the right choice — a child sees a doctor more than a healthy adult does.
Children are insured individually, not attached to a parent’s contract. Nothing requires them to be with your insurer, and many families do better by splitting them.
